Hair treatment for Sebum build-up

Nobody loves a good shampooing from the hairdresser as much as I do. It’s seriously my favorite part of getting my hair cut.

In between cuts, though, I get this weird build up on my crown. Supposedly its called SEBUM; which I am not a fan of. I used to have scrub so dang hard to get that crap off my head and it sometimes still wouldn’t come out. But I finally discovered, after trial and error, what of my Arbonne hair products help with this!

sebum treatment products1. Intelligence Self Adjusting Shampoo with Tea Tree Oil. One pump is sufficient for my entire head and I REALLY work this stuff in – especially on my crown where the build-up of Sebum is.

2. FC5 Nourishing Daily Shampoo (yes, I shampoo twice!). This shampoo doesn’t lather, so don’t let it fool you. You only need a dime sized amount. If you get too much your hair will be very greasy! (hence the trial and ERROR part 😉 ).

3. FC5 Daily Conditioner. Same thing, you don’t need a whole lot. A ‘lil dab’ll do ya. I avoid my crown with all conditioners. It doesn’t need it usually. Leave this on for a couple mins if you’d like.

4. Intelligence Scalp Revitalizer. This stuff has been my savings grace for my hair. I absolutely love it! It has a little bit of a tingling and it feels so cool! I put this directly onto my scalp on my part line and on my crown where the build-up is. And then I really work it in and scrub, scrub, scrub! Leave it on for 5 – 7 mins. Rinse.

I do this regimen about once a week or once every two weeks. In between I just use the FC5 shampoo once every 3 or 4 days and the conditioner about once a week, if that. It’s nice because the FC5 shampoo makes my hair so soft and still leave it feeling clean. I don’t really need a lot of conditioner (so it lasts for a looooong time!).

Hope this helps if you have the same issue I do! I understand it can be frustrating… not to mention kinda gross… 😛

Surviving Winter (skin)…

Anyone else get dry, scaly, flaking and just plain gross skin during the dry winter months?

Or, how about the awesome cracking heels of your feet, or the ends of your fingers.

Ouch.

I bet you’re thinking, why are you asking, Heather? Do you have a solution? Why, indeed I do, dear reader! Lucky you.

surviving winter handsFor HANDS use the Awaken Sea Salt Scrub & FC5 Ultra Hydrating Hand Creme (the first Arbonne product I ever used and therefore fell in love with.)

What to do:

1. Wet your hands and exfoliate with Sea Salt Scrub for a few minutes. You don’t have to scrub hard. The essential oils will condition the skin while you do this.

2. Wash the salt off with warm water while continuing to gently scrub.

3. Dry your hands off with a soft towel and apply Hand Creme.

Ahhhh….. ☺

For FEET, check out my blog post about how to do a detox foot soak. You will likely only have to do this once or twice all winter. Or once a week. Or, ya know, every day – depends on how badly your feet are cracking.

surviving winter faceFor FACE use FC5 Hydration Mask + RE9 Extra Moisture Day Creme with SPF 20 in the morning + FC5 Moisturizing Night Creme before bed (after your cleanser of course). If you’re like me and have ultra dry skin this combo seems to keep my skin from even knowing it’s dry than (as my Grandpa would say) horse manure. Apparently that’s really dry. I can’t attest to that, but thanks for the reference Grandpa!

What to do:

1. Use your cleanser as usual. Apply the hydration mask as needed. I use it twice a week when it’s VERY dry out, otherwise once a week. Leave it on for 10 -15 minutes then wash it off. Set an alarm or timer because you may forget you have it on. (don’t ask! 😉 )

2. Apply the extra moisture day creme EVERYDAY. No, really. Every. Day.

3. Apply the Night creme before bed. Every. Night.

How to make a smoothie

berry smoothieI just love this quick newscast. This Dr. describes what you should be putting into your smoothie… (HINT: it’s not sugar, milk or yogurt).

Watch this: What to put into your smoothies

Fruits, healthy fats, water and/or ice, protein, fiber, greens. Mix. Grind. Pour. Enjoy. Pretty simple. I think we can handle that.

Hubs and I are on DAY 3 of our DETOX and so far so good. He’s actually kind of a ‘rule junkie’ – he follows each recipe to a ‘T’ and makes sure he records each meal. I am not so strict about this. I pretty much follow the recipe as far as ingredients ( I know what I can and cannot use) and I was ‘scolded’ this morning for not recording my meals on my tracker sheet. I smiled and said ‘yes dear’. 🙂 Ugh, he’s so freakin’ adorable…

So, whether you’re rule follower like my husband, or a rebel like me just make sure you make your smoothies right so you can get the right amount of nutrients and good stuff. Otherwise you’ll be starving. And that’s not good for anyone. 😉

How to: Facials at home

Some of us (ME!) love to go to the spa and get a nice relaxing facial. This comes with a HUGE price tag, usually! So, I encourage folks to do your own facial right at home, whenever you want at MUCH less than half the cost!

What products you’ll need for this:

-RE9 Advanced Set, #818

-RE9 Advanced Cellular Renewal Masque, #899

-FC5 Exfoliating New Cell Scrub, #7386

-For Normal/Dry skin: Intense Hydration Mask, #7461. For Oily/Combination Skin: Deep Cleansing Mask, #7460

I recommend you do this facial once a week to once a month, and use the RE9 system daily.

STEPS:

1. Apply RE9 Smoothing Facial cleanser in circular motions on your face. Wash away.

2. Apply a dime sized amount of FC5 Exfoliating New Cell Scrub to your face in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Do this for about a minute and let dry. While you’re waiting for it to dry, wet a wash cloth and ring it out, stick it in the microwave for 1 min 30 sec. Take it out carefully and once you can stand it, lay it over your face until it begins to cool. Use it to wash away the scrub.

3. Apply a pea sized amount of the RE9 Cellular Renewal Masque, all over avoiding the eye area. Leave on for 5 – 7 mins, then gently wash away.

4. Apply a pea-sized amount of the Deep cleansing OR the Intense Hydration mask all over. Avoid eye area. Leave on for 10 mins then gently wash away.

5. Spray the RE9 Toner onto your skin, or onto a cotton ball then apply all over face and neck.

6. Use one pump of the RE9 Intensive Renewal Serum and apply to entire face, avoiding eye area.

7. Apply RE9 Corrective Eye creme to both eyes. 1 pump is all you need for BOTH eyes.

8. Apply pea sized amount of the RE9 Night Repair Creme to face and neck.

9. Drink a nice cup of Arbonne’s Herbal Detox Tea and get a restful nights sleep! In the morning apply the RE9 Day Creme – just one pump for your entire face!
